Kids Director Job Description

Part-time: 10 hours per week
Compensation: $200/week

Position Summary

The Grove Church is seeking a Kids Ministry Director to lead our pre-k through elementary ministry on Sunday mornings.

This role is responsible for helping kids find and follow Jesus through creating a safe, exciting, and Christ-centered environment every Sunday while leading and caring for a team of volunteers.

This is a part-time role of approximately 10 hours per week, primarily focused on leading Sunday morning kids ministry and supporting volunteers.

Primary Responsibilities

1) Sunday Morning Leadership & Spiritual Environment

• Lead and oversee a Christ-centered environment where kids are taught Scripture in engaging and age appropriate ways

• Implement and adapt Biblically based curriculum with a focus on helping kids begin to know and follow Jesus.

• Ensure classrooms are safe, organized, and prepared for ministry.

2) Volunteer Leadership & Support

• Recruit, schedule, and communicate with volunteer teachers and helpers.

• Support volunteers so they feel confident and equipped for their ministry.

• Ensure all volunteers follow church safety and protection policies.

3) Family Connection

• Build relationships with parents and families on Sundays.

• Support church wide family oriented events (2–4 per year) by assisting as needed. Overall planning and leadership will be provided by others.

4) Administration & Ministry Organization

• Oversee check-in and check-out systems to ensure safety and efficiency.

• Maintain classroom snacks, supplies and curriculum. 

• Track attendance and maintain basic family records.

• Provide occasional ministry updates to church leadership.

Scope & Growth

This role is intentionally focused on leading Sunday morning ministry within a 10-hour per week commitment (4-5 hours on Sunday, the rest done at your pace during the week).

There is not an expectation to lead additional ministries or take on responsibilities outside of the kids ministry. As our church grows, there may be opportunities for this role to grow as well, but we are committed to building this ministry in a healthy and sustainable way that matches available time, support, and resources.

Qualifications

• Spiritual Maturity - A committed follower of Jesus Christ who is actively growing in their faith and aligned with the beliefs of The Grove Church (Assemblies of God).

• Passion for Kids & Calling to Ministry - A genuine desire to help children know and follow Jesus and to invest in the spiritual growth of others.

• Experience - Previous experience in kids ministry, education, or a related field is helpful but not required.

• Leadership & Organization - Ability to lead volunteers, communicate clearly, and maintain a well-organized ministry environment.

• Teachable Spirit - Humble, adaptable, and willing to grow within a small church setting.

• Background Check - Must pass a background check and adhere to all child safety policies.
