BAPTISM

WHY BAPTISM?

One of our biggest passions at The Grove Church is to help people grow in their walk with God and we believe baptism is a huge part of that process. The Bible tells us that Jesus was baptized (Matthew 3:13-17) and also that baptism should be one of the first steps we take after making a decision to follow Jesus (Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:35-38).

When we decide to get baptized we are following the commands and patterns of the Bible. It is an act of obedience. Additionally, baptism is an act of publicly professing our faith in Jesus Christ (1 Peter 3:21). It’s a way to let everyone know that you’re a Christian.

At The Grove Church we practice full-immersion baptism that symbolizes the death and resurrection of Jesus and the new life we have been given because of what Jesus did for us (Romans 6:3-4). When we go under the water, it symbolizes the death and burial of our sinful life. When we come out of the water, it symbolizes our resurrection as a new creation in Christ (Galatians 3:27; 2 Corinthians 5:17).
